Localism 2.0? The Planning White Paper

The 2011 Localism Act swept away regional planning and was intended to bring in a new way of looking at the planning system, with an emphasis on giving communities control of the development within their area as well as new freedoms and flexibilities for local authorities. The Planning White Paper suggests wider scale changes to the way in which the system works, and again focuses on the way in which local people can have their say. We consider the successes and limitations of the Localism Act changes, and the ways the system may change again.
